Mission
Dignify Therapeutics is a drug development company focused on delivering novel drug therapies for bladder and bowel disorders in spinal cord injured, multiple sclerosis and similar patient populations. By combining novel pharmaceutical agents with drug delivery technology, Dignify Therapeutics will redefine the treatment of these disorders and restore the dignity of voluntary excretory function for these patients.
Our immediate aim is to provide paraplegic patients a pharmaceutical alternative to bladder catheterization as a means of emptying the bladder. Passage of a catheter into the urethra and bladder can be discomforting, inconvenient and stigmatizing, and can be associated with urinary tract infections and various other complications. Our products will improve the daily quality of life and health of patients, as well as reduce individual and community health care costs.
Disease Focus
Dignify Therapeutics' drug development programs are focused on patients with bladder or bowel retention. The inability to efficiently empty the bladder and/or bowel is a common occurrence in patients with spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis, stroke, Parkinson’s disease, diabetes, and the elderly. There are currently few pharmaceutical options for these patients, and many rely on bladder catheters or adult diapers to manage their symptoms.
Loss of voluntary control over bladder and bowel function as a result of spinal cord injury (SCI) has a profound impact on the mental and physical health and quality of life of patients. Urinary retention as a result of SCI is irreversible and can be life threatening. Consequently, many SCI patients catheterize multiple times daily to empty their bladder. Bladder catheter use can be associated with an increased incidence of health problems, predominately repeated urinary tract infections and hospitalization. Dignify Therapeutics is developing pharmaceutical treatments that will provide SCI patients with the ability to empty their bladders without the use of a bladder catheter.
